Rubicon Coaching
Taking you to the next level

To "cross the Rubicon" is an idiomatic expression that refers to making a crucial and irrevocable decision or taking a decisive action that commits someone to a particular course of action. It originated from a historical event when Julius Caesar, a Roman general, crossed the Rubicon River in 49 BC with his army, defying the Roman Senate's orders not to bring armed forces into Rome. This act marked the point of no return, as it initiated a civil war and ultimately led to Caesar's rise to power in ancient Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" for Rubicon Coaching means going where you haven't gone before and going to where you want to go without looking back.

If you're ready to be, do and have everything you want in business and life, Rubicon Coaching can help you.

What are you reading today?  In my last article, I spoke about the power of spending just 14 minutes a day to improve yourself. That’s 1% of your day for a potential 37-fold improvement at the end of the year.  Reading is one of the easiest and best ways leading to self-improvement.
As someone who is deeply passionate about reading and its transformative power, I highly recommend the importance of dedicating this 14 minutes a day to reading. It's remarkable how such a seemingly small commitment can lead to significant personal growth over time.
I remember vividly sharing my love for reading with my children, emphasizing how it can transport them to enchanting worlds and ignite their imaginations. We would often embark on thrilling adventures together, exploring far-off lands and discovering diverse cultures through the pages of books.
Whether it's a captivating novel, a thought-provoking non-fiction book, or even an informative article, reading can take you on a journey of discovery, opening your mind to new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities.
Reading truly allows us to break free from the constraints of our physical surroundings and delve into captivating narratives. It's a remarkable form of escapism that enriches our minds, broadens our perspectives, and expands our horizons.
When I think about the vast array of books that exist, it's awe-inspiring to realize that almost any topic or interest we can imagine has likely been explored and written about. These literary treasures enable us to tap into the wisdom and experiences of others, providing invaluable inspiration, guidance, and life lessons.
What truly fascinates me is that through reading, we can learn from the triumphs and failures of others, gaining insights that can propel us further on our own journeys. Instead of reinventing the wheel, we have the opportunity to stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us, absorbing their knowledge and applying it to our own lives. It's like starting at a higher level of learning and accelerating our progress toward our goals.
Reading also promotes relaxation and stress reduction. It can be a form of escapism, allowing you to immerse yourself in captivating stories and explore new realms. Moreover, reading before bed can improve sleep quality.
The impact of reading goes beyond personal growth; it also benefits our communication skills, empathy, and overall well-being. By engaging with different writing styles and diverse perspectives, our vocabulary expands, our critical thinking skills sharpen, and our ability to connect with others deepens.
If you ever find yourself thinking that you don't have enough time to read for just 14 minutes a day, I encourage you to consider the wonders of audiobooks. With their growing popularity, building an audiobook library can enable you to immerse yourself in captivating stories during your commute, while doing household chores, or whenever you have some free moments.
Speaking of commutes, that 30-minute journey presents a valuable opportunity to absorb knowledge through audiobooks. Even brief daily sessions can accumulate a wealth of information over time, allowing you to explore a vast range of subjects and acquire new skills.
The brain is like a computer that functions based on what we program into it. By consciously choosing to fill our minds with positive, enriching content, we pave the way for personal growth and become more well-rounded individuals. Learning is a continuous process, and every bit of knowledge gained adds to your overall understanding. So, embrace your commute as an opportunity to engage in self-improvement and expand your horizons through the power of audiobooks.  Zig Ziglar used to say, “your input affects your outlook, your outlook affects your output, and your output affects your destiny.”  That quote alone should be the one to embrace and understand how reading can get you to where you want to be.
