Rubicon Coaching
Taking you to the next level

To "cross the Rubicon" is an idiomatic expression that refers to making a crucial and irrevocable decision or taking a decisive action that commits someone to a particular course of action. It originated from a historical event when Julius Caesar, a Roman general, crossed the Rubicon River in 49 BC with his army, defying the Roman Senate's orders not to bring armed forces into Rome. This act marked the point of no return, as it initiated a civil war and ultimately led to Caesar's rise to power in ancient Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" for Rubicon Coaching means going where you haven't gone before and going to where you want to go without looking back.

If you're ready to be, do and have everything you want in business and life, Rubicon Coaching can help you.

More on just 1% of your day for exercise

Last week I posted about thinking about doing just 14 minutes of exercise consistently every day and those benefits.

Now, let's talk about staying in shape. You might be surprised, but even those 14 minutes can make a difference in managing your weight. It's like telling your metabolism, "Hey, let's keep things running smoothly!" Plus, those exercises will help tone your muscles, keeping you strong and ready for whatever comes your way.

Flexibility and balance are important too, right? Well, guess what? Adding some stretches and balance exercises to your 14-minute routine can help with that. Think about it as a way to stay nimble and prevent those awkward stumbles.

Oh, and did you know exercise can be your ticket to dreamland? Yes, regular physical activity can improve your sleep quality. So, those 14 minutes can set you up for a night of better, more restful sleep.

And hey, let's give a shoutout to your brain. Even though it's just a quick workout, it sends more blood up there, boosting your brainpower. It's like exercise is a secret recipe for better focus and memory.

And here's the cool thing: those 14 minutes can make a big impact on your long-term health. You're reducing your risk of stuff like diabetes, certain cancers, and other chronic issues. Not bad for just a quick workout, right?

Lastly, time is precious, and 14 minutes is totally doable for most of us. It's a workout that fits into a busy schedule, making it easier to stick with it. So, remember, consistency is key—those 14 minutes can add up to a happier, healthier you!

Can 14 Minutes of Excercise Really Make a Difference?

Keeping with the theme of 14 minutes or just one percent of your day, how can you incorporate exercise into your day?  Not everyone can take the time to be a gym junkie and if you’re like me, the time it takes to get to the gym, workout, and get back to work is just too much to be persistently consistent with a workout routine.  Inevitably for me, I would get busy and miss a workout day, which turns out to be several missed and then it’s just too much to try to get back into it because I don’t want to be “sore” again for several days.  Then it’s back to the “guilt” of not working out regularly.  What if there was a system that could make up for those days or eliminate the gym entirely?  Today’s subject is about taking just one percent of your day done consistently at home to implement an exercise plan that can be easily accomplished.

Even though it might not sound like a lot, those 14 minutes can do wonders for your overall well-being.
First off, think about your heart—it loves when you get moving. With just 14 minutes of exercise each day, you're giving it a good workout that can lead to better heart health with lower blood pressure, a reduced risk of heart disease, and improved blood circulation.

And guess what? Those short bursts of exercise can totally give you an energy boost. It's like a natural shot of espresso for your body! You'll feel more awake and focused throughout the day, thanks to those feel-good chemicals called endorphins.

Speaking of feeling good, let's talk about your mood. Regular exercise, even in short spurts, can seriously help you feel better mentally. It's like a superhero against stress, anxiety, and even the blues. Your mind will thank you for those 14 minutes of self-care.

Try taking just 1% of your day, everyday, for a little exercise and see what a BIG difference it can make in your day.

As a mortgage professional myself, I understand the importance of continuous learning and staying informed in our ever-evolving industry. If you're looking for books to enhance your knowledge and professional growth, here are some recommendations I've found valuable:
1.      "The Mortgage Encyclopedia: The Authoritative Guide to Mortgage Programs, Practices, Prices and Pitfalls" by Jack Guttentag - This comprehensive guide has been my go-to resource for expanding my understanding of mortgage programs, regulations, and industry terminology. It's an invaluable companion for navigating the complexities of our field.
2.      "The Loan Guide: How to Get the Best Possible Mortgage" by Casey Fleming - This book offers practical insights from the borrower's perspective, providing a deeper understanding of their needs and concerns. By empathizing with borrowers, we can better guide them through the mortgage process and build stronger relationships.
3.      "The Millionaire Loan Officer" by Scott Hudspeth - This inspiring book delves into strategies and mindsets for achieving success in our industry. It has motivated me to think creatively, develop effective lead generation techniques, and explore avenues for financial growth.
4.      "Mortgage Confidential: What You Need to Know That Your Lender Won't Tell You" by David Reed - This eye-opening book sheds light on the inner workings of the mortgage industry, helping me better navigate pricing, underwriting, and other critical aspects. It's empowered me to provide my clients with more transparent and informed guidance.
5.      "The Real Estate Game: The Intelligent Guide to Decision Making and Investment" by William J. Poorvu - While not solely focused on mortgages, this book has broadened my perspective on real estate as a whole. Understanding the broader landscape and investment strategies has allowed me to offer more holistic advice to my clients.

There are many other books that are well worth the read, If you would like some ideas, I would be happy to let you know what I’m reading now or what I’ve read lately.
Remember, alongside reading books, it's crucial to stay updated on industry news, regulations, and trends. I find it helpful to regularly follow reputable financial publications, stay engaged with industry websites, and participate in professional development courses.
By combining these resources with a commitment to ongoing learning, we can provide exceptional service, anticipate market shifts, and elevate our expertise as mortgage professionals.
So, embrace the power of reading and let it transport you to uncharted territories, both within yourself and in the vast realms of literature. Happy reading, even if it’s for just 1% of your day!
