Rubicon Coaching
Taking you to the next level

To "cross the Rubicon" is an idiomatic expression that refers to making a crucial and irrevocable decision or taking a decisive action that commits someone to a particular course of action. It originated from a historical event when Julius Caesar, a Roman general, crossed the Rubicon River in 49 BC with his army, defying the Roman Senate's orders not to bring armed forces into Rome. This act marked the point of no return, as it initiated a civil war and ultimately led to Caesar's rise to power in ancient Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" for Rubicon Coaching means going where you haven't gone before and going to where you want to go without looking back.

If you're ready to be, do and have everything you want in business and life, Rubicon Coaching can help you.

The Power of a Progress Journal: Celebrating Small Wins

Keeping a progress journal doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s not about writing perfect reflections or long entries—it’s just a space to acknowledge the small wins that often go unnoticed.

Maybe you made a healthier choice at lunch. Finished a task you’d been procrastinating. Handled a tough conversation with patience. These might seem like small things in the moment, but they add up. And when you take the time to jot them down, even in just a sentence or two, you start to see your progress more clearly.

Why Reflection Matters
Life moves fast. We’re constantly pushing toward the next goal, the next milestone, the next “big thing.” But when we’re always focused on what’s ahead, we forget to look around and appreciate how far we’ve come. Writing in a progress journal allows us to pause, reflect, and recognize the effort we’re putting in.

Even on the messy, unproductive days—especially on those days—there’s usually something worth noting. Maybe you didn’t finish everything on your to-do list, but you showed up. You took a step, even a small one. And that matters.

Creating a Map of Your Growth
Over time, this practice becomes more than just a collection of notes. It becomes a map of where you’ve been, proof that you’ve faced challenges before and come out stronger. On the days when you feel stuck, you can flip back and see just how much progress you’ve made.

Growth isn’t always obvious in the moment, and it’s rarely linear. But when you keep a record—however small—you start to see patterns. You notice the ways you’ve improved, adapted, and kept moving forward, even when it felt slow.

How to Get Started
No fancy journal required. Use whatever you have—a notebook, a notes app on your phone, or even a scrap of paper. Keep it simple:
  • Write down one thing that went well today.
  • Note a challenge you handled better than before.
  • Record a moment where you showed up for yourself.

It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be consistent.

Because in the end, progress isn’t about giant leaps—it’s about the small steps you take every day. Keep showing up for yourself, and over time, you’ll be amazed at how far you’ve come.
