Rubicon Coaching
Taking you to the next level

To "cross the Rubicon" is an idiomatic expression that refers to making a crucial and irrevocable decision or taking a decisive action that commits someone to a particular course of action. It originated from a historical event when Julius Caesar, a Roman general, crossed the Rubicon River in 49 BC with his army, defying the Roman Senate's orders not to bring armed forces into Rome. This act marked the point of no return, as it initiated a civil war and ultimately led to Caesar's rise to power in ancient Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" for Rubicon Coaching means going where you haven't gone before and going to where you want to go without looking back.

If you're ready to be, do and have everything you want in business and life, Rubicon Coaching can help you.

If I Wasn’t Afraid, I Would…

Let’s be honest—fear can be sneaky.
It doesn’t always look like panic or paralysis. Most of the time, it wears the mask of “being responsible,” or “waiting for the right time,” or “just being realistic.” But in this business—and in life—I've learned that fear has a subtle but powerful way of running the show without us even realizing it.

Fear whispers things like:
  • “What if you fail?”
  • “What will people think?”
  • “It’s probably too late anyway.”
  • “You’re not ready.”
Sound familiar? It does to me.

As someone who’s worked both as an account executive and a mortgage loan originator, I’ve seen this up close—not just in myself, but in clients and colleagues too. Fear has a way of shrinking us, of keeping us stuck in what's familiar, even when it's no longer working. It can keep you in that “safe” comfort zone—watching from the sidelines, waiting for something to feel certain.

But what if we didn’t let fear sit in the driver’s seat?

There’s a simple question I come back to when I feel that hesitation creeping in:
If I wasn’t afraid, I would… what?

This isn’t about what's easiest. Or what has a guaranteed ROI. It’s about getting honest with yourself. The answers that surface when you ask this question are usually raw, sometimes uncomfortable, and often deeply aligned with who you are and what you really want.

And here's the thing—naming your fear doesn’t mean it magically goes away. But naming it gives you a clear starting point. It takes fear out of the shadows and puts it in front of you, where you can look it in the eye and start making decisions from a place of clarity instead of caution.

So, here’s a little challenge.

Take out a notebook, or open a blank note on your phone, and finish this sentence five times:
If I wasn’t afraid, I would…

Go big, go bold. No filters, no justifications. Maybe it’s:
  • “I’d finally reach out to that top real estate agent I’ve admired from a distance.”
  • “I’d record that video I’ve been putting off.”
  • “I’d move cities, or niche down, or build the team I keep talking about.”

Maybe it’s not even about business. That’s okay too. The point isn’t to act on everything right away—the point is to uncover the truth hiding underneath the hesitation.

And that truth? That’s where your next move begins.

So whether you're chasing volume goals, trying to stand out in a competitive market, or simply wanting to stop running on autopilot, start here:
If I wasn’t afraid, I would…

You might just surprise yourself.

From the desk of someone who knows what it’s like to face fear, and do it anyway—one step at a time.
