Rubicon Coaching
Taking you to the next level

To "cross the Rubicon" is an idiomatic expression that refers to making a crucial and irrevocable decision or taking a decisive action that commits someone to a particular course of action. It originated from a historical event when Julius Caesar, a Roman general, crossed the Rubicon River in 49 BC with his army, defying the Roman Senate's orders not to bring armed forces into Rome. This act marked the point of no return, as it initiated a civil war and ultimately led to Caesar's rise to power in ancient Rome. The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" for Rubicon Coaching means going where you haven't gone before and going to where you want to go without looking back.

If you're ready to be, do and have everything you want in business and life, Rubicon Coaching can help you.

🚫 “Hello” Might Be a Scam: Don’t Fall for This Week’s Text Message Trap
From the desk of a residential mortgage professional

In today’s digital world, protecting your finances isn’t just about making smart mortgage decisions—it’s also about staying ahead of scams that target your personal information. One of the latest tactics I’ve seen floating around is a simple, seemingly harmless text message that reads:

“Hello.”

It might look like an accidental message from a stranger. You might even think it’s someone who just has the wrong number. But here’s the truth: it’s likely a smishing attack—a type of phishing scam done through text message.

🚨 What Is Smishing? Scammers send thousands of vague, friendly messages like this to random phone numbers, hoping someone replies. Once you do, they know your number is active and that they’ve reached a real person. From there, they’ll often try to build trust and eventually coax you into sharing sensitive data like financial details or login credentials.

As someone who works every day to help families make smart, secure home financing decisions, I also want to help you protect the financial future you’re building. Here’s how you can stay safe:

✅ Tips to Avoid Smishing Scams:
  • Don’t reply to texts from unknown numbers—even if they seem harmless.
  • Block the number and report the text as junk or spam through your phone’s messaging app.
  • Never share personal or financial details via text, especially with numbers you don’t recognize.
  • Trust your instincts—if something feels off, it probably is.

Your financial health goes beyond your mortgage. It’s about guarding your information just as much as it is about managing your money. A simple “Hello” text could open the door to a complex scam—so when in doubt, delete and move on.

If you ever have questions about how to protect your financial information or want to chat about your home buying plans, I’m here to help.

Stay safe and stay smart out there.
